Name: Jemma Senior

Job Title: Marketing Executive

Why are you an ambassador for Women in Food?

I was asked to be a Women in Food Ambassador and I was thrilled to be given the opportunity because I am a huge advocate for increasing opportunities for women in the workplace. So far it has been a pleasure to attend events and meet other like-minded people from within the food industry, who are dedicated to supporting and nurturing women in their work.

What is your relation to food in your job role?

Although my job role focus on marketing, food plays a huge part. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our ethos is to provide an inspiring dining experience in a conscious manner. From careful consideration of our supply chain through to the customer experience, each aspect supports eating better for the environment, our health, animal welfare and support local communities

How did your career start at The Venues Collection?

I joined The Venues Collection after I finished University in 2021 to start my career in Marketing.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I am grateful I can learn and experience every aspect of marketing.  My job role is very broad, which enables me to build on a variety of different skills. This is including email marketing, campaign management, and social media!

What do you know now that you wish you could have told your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to be confident in my abilities. When I was young, I would compare my abilities and journey to others, causing self-limiting beliefs. Everyone is on their own path, and your path will look different to everyone else’s and that is okay!

Why is food important to you?

Food is important for many reasons, but for me, it brings people and cultures together. When we meet people from different cultures, we share our food with them. This is a fantastic way to create bonds and to share things that are close to us. It’s also a great way to learn about other cultures, which is good because I love travelling.

What is your comfort food?

My go-to comfort food is a traditional roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, and lots of vegetables.

What is your favourite beverage?

I am a coffee fanatic, so I love a caramel oat milk latte. Oat milk is a great alternative to dairy, and its better for the planet because it produces lower carbon emissions and lower usage of water in production.

What is your favourite thing on The Venues Collection menu?

Herbalism Hot Dog with Crispy Onions, Sriracha Mayonnaise, Dill Pickle, and Chips.

What one piece of advice would you give to a woman just starting out in the hospitality industry?

Before I started my marketing career, I waitressed in restaurants for 5 years. My advice would be to surround yourself with a hardworking team, that motivates and pushes you to be the best version of yourself. This will improve your professional and personal skills!
